1999: From idea to reality
Maurice Jud founded the small company in 1999 in the border triangle of Switzerland, Germany, Austria and built it up on Austrian soil. The idea for the foundation was born in the same year, the birth year of his dog Smart. The brand Smart-99 was born. From the beginning, the safety and health of the dog in the agility sport was the first priority. Oriented to this standard, the company's goal to this day is to produce agility equipment of the highest quality, which is sold worldwide.
Agility sports: the rapid development and our smart solutions
The sport of agility with the performance of the dog and handler is constantly evolving. At the beginning of the sport, for example, speeds of 1.5 to 2 meters/second were recorded, today it is a rapid 4 to 5.5 meters/second on average - and that over 20 hurdles! The equipment industry must keep pace with this athletic development. That's why we at Smart-99 want to make smart equipment for our dogs that supports them as much as possible.
The perfect running track surface for dogs
A fundamental element of the production of Smart-99 equipment is the special running surface of the contact zone equipment. The Integral-99 surface, which the company has had internationally protected, allows the dog to step without slipping, even in the rain. This is particularly important for dogs with top speeds of up to 25 km/h. The decisive factor in the rubber is the combination of surface structure, cushioning behavior and traction. Besides the qualities for the dog, Smart-99 also focuses on the optimal handling of the equipment for the dog handler. That's why we only use high quality materials like aluminum to minimize the weight of the equipment and to reduce the frequency of maintenance.
2000 - Today: From reality to success story
10 years after the foundation Smart-99 was handed over to Wolfgang and Petra Noever and thus the production of the equipment was moved to Schramberg in the Black Forest. We now deliver our agility equipment to more than 20 countries on 4 continents and have been commissioned several times as the official supplier for FCI Agility World Championships.
Today, Smart-99 is run more than ever as a family business. Wolfgang Noever is mainly involved with the son, Matthias Noever, in product development and production, Petra Noever takes over the production of the special Integral-99 pad and the daughter, Fiona Noever, takes care of marketing and social media. Together, as a family, we try to move the company forward and, above all, to guarantee the safety and health of the dog in agility sports through self-developed innovations.
For example for example, in the course of time, the opening tire or the seesaw with damping was developed. In order to make the sport more professional and also to support the judges at official competitions, for example, the electronic catwalk was introduced. We will continue, together with our employees, to gather our versatile knowledge and use it to further develop the Smart-99 equipment.
